HUF San Francisco Dunks pay homage to both the late icon and his adopted city. Read on to know more about the new release!
Who’s Keith Hufnagel?
Keith Hufnagel- an ambitious man that didn’t accept the rules of mainstream American culture as a boy. He was “punked out” every time someone saw his skateboard since skateboarding was viewed back then as a rebel activity. Yet, he still pursued his dream against all odds to become a professional skateboarder. And this happened when he moved out of Manhattan to San Francisco. There he found a sponsor that offered him a chance to join skateboard circuits all over the world.
A decade or so later, the sneaker and streetwear hype reached the self-made skateboarder. So, he decided to go into the skatewear business along with his wife. They opened the HUF boutique in San Francisco, which caught the attention of some of the best sneaker brands. The brand thrived throughout the years, as the couple opened one branch after the other. Global brands started seeing the HUF brand as one worth partnering up with. And that’s exactly what happened. In the early 2000s, Nike collaborated with HUF creating the Dunks with a tie-dye design using San Francisco Giants colors.
HUF x Nike SB Dunk High Tie-Die dropped in 2004 where it was a major hit. It was one of the most coveted releases that year. And to this day, it’s still standing out in the sneaker resale market, where it’s making its resellers more than 2k!
Keith left a special touch in the fashion industry that his name will forever be remembered. The proof is the upcoming HUF San Francisco Dunks made in remembrance of the iconic figure.
HUF San Francisco Dunks
Another HUF collab is on its way. The new Dunks are releasing soon and in both the New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants’ signature colors. The former is still a mystery, while the official images for the latter finally dropped. And its colorway looks like non-other sneakerheads’ favorite, Panda which conquered the sneaker industry this year.
The upcoming HUF San Francisco Dunks feature pebbled leather, honoring the city that embraced Hufnagel, San Francisco. The uppers feature white leather that covers the toe boxes, laces, and tongues. While Black overlays the tip, eyestays, and insoles of the Dunks. The swoosh comes in a grey color just like the heel tab that presents San Francisco’s skyline. Furthermore, you can find KEITH FOREVER embroidered above the previously mentioned city’s skyline. Not forgetting about the HUF branding on the toe box and the San Fransisco text on the tongue.
Leaving the best part till the end… the mid-panels are removable! Once removed, the most vibrant orange and black tie-dye comes to life making the shoe all the more unique.
