Although this news was called for, as most people have seen it coming, reality tends to hit different. Ye wanted to leave Adidas when their partnership expires. At least that was the plan. Which still had 4 years to be put to work. But obviously, Adidas likes shortcuts! Also, although the resale value is expected to take a downturn after such a thing happens, you’d still feel the surprise when it occurs. And that’s exactly what happened here. Yeezy resale value came crashing down like a wrecking ball, smashing all plans sneakerheads and resellers had before.

On October 25th, 2022, things took a turn for the worse, for Ye. Complications between the rapper and the Three Stripes have been consistent for ages. However, Kanye West posting an anti-Semitic comment on Twitter was the last blow that took him down. Adidas just snapped then, calling everything off. Unfortunately for the fashion designer, things didn’t stop there as Gap also cut ties with him, followed by Footlocker. The latter removed all Yeezy products from their stores. Claiming that, “Foot Locker, Inc. does not tolerate any form of antisemitism or hateful and discriminatory behavior.”
That’s not all. Adidas stopped all Yeezy productions in an instant, as well Ye’s and his companies’ payments. The Three Stripes literally stopped “the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect.” Aggressive much? It doesn’t stop there! Ye is officially NOT a billionaire anymore, according to Forbes. Collaborating with Adidas granted him a $1.5 billion net worth. Which took a drastic downturn the moment the brand terminated the contract. Now, the no-longer-billionaire approximately has a $400 billion net worth, which comes from his music, cash, real estate, and his 5% stake from Skims. If you don’t know what the last one is, that would be his ex-wife’s shapewear company.
Yeezy Resale Value And Resellers
All in all, West has been living through a nightmare and things don’t seem to be settling with him soon. Resellers could relate to that statement as they’ve gone through a frenzy trying to know what to do with the Yeezys they collected. And, most importantly, the bots they subscribed for!
