Is Adidas losing another strong partnership? It’s official, people. Louis Vuitton secured itself one of the greatest creative designers out there to fill in Men’s Creative Director’s place. Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton is a thing now! But what exactly does this mean? Williams is one of the partners helping Adidas stay upright as its share prices crash down. Oh, you didn’t know? Yes, the Three Stripes has been struggling badly after it terminated Kanye’s partnership. Speak of bringing your own doom to your doorstep! And you thought all that went down in the industry in 2022 was the worst you all could ever witness? Well, you couldn’t have been more wrong! Now, Adidas and Nike aside, what’s this Pharrell Williams x LV partnership about? Let’s discover this together!
A Throwback To Pharrell Williams’ Collab History With LV
Pharrell Williams is no stranger to luxury collaborations. In fact, he collaborated with Louis Vuitton back in 2004. Then another time in 2008. And their being remembered to this day, should tell you enough about the hype they created.
In 2004, Williams along with Louis Williams launched a “Millionaire” sunglasses line, which was under the direction of Marc Jacobs. However, Pharrell collaborated with LV again, but this time they launched a jewelry collection. Not only this, but Pharrell has always been a fan of the luxury brand, as he used to show up at the brand’s runaway shows and events. But now there’s nothing temporary about this partnership. Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton is a label for the keeps.
Pharrell Williams Louis Vuitton
Louis Vuitton has functioned for over a year without an official Menswear Creative Director. And it’s totally understandable since it’s a near-impossible task to replace the late Virgil Abloh’s creativity. However, recently, Louis Vuitton announced its new arrangement. And all we can say is sneakerheads weren’t a bit disappointed with the said arrangement. It’s the multitalented designer taking the Men’s Creative Director title at LV, after all.
Louis Vuitton confirmed the news through an Instagram post, where it welcomed the designer and promised that his first collection would be revealed during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, next June. The brand also praised the designer, saying:
“Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years.”
LV’s CEO had something to say as well, as he declared: “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”
So, let’s say that we all are looking forward to and have high expectations for what Williams will bring to the fashion world! However, it’s worth noting that, Pharrell Williams’ collab with Chanel was successful beyond words. The Adidas Human Race NMD Pharrell x Chanel reselling for $5,303 on average is proof enough! Meaning that, this could be the boost Adidas has been waiting for!
